1. Are the Line Voltage Light Bars UL listed?

Yes they are UL & CUL listed, you can find listed products at www.ul.com.

2. What is the lamp requirement of the Line Volt Bars?

They employ JCD Bi-Pin 120V 25W halogen bulbs (supplied with fixture).

Model Voltage Lamps Wattage Length
BA-LIV-1 120V 1 – 25W 25W 7"
BA-LIV-2  120V 2 – 25W 50W 12"
BA-LIV-3 120V 3 – 25W 75W 18"
BA-LIV-4 120V 4 – 25W 100W 24"
BA-LIV-6 120V 6 – 25W 150W 36"

3. What is the advantage of your Line Volt Light Bars over regular fluorescent undercounter units?

The halogen lamps provide a pure white light source rather than the fluorescent colors that most people dislike.

4. How does the light output compare to fluorescent and your Low Volt Bar lights?

5. What is the difference between a BA-LIV-2P and a BA-LIV-2?

The "P" (portable) indicates that the fixture is equipped with a 9' cord and plug to be installed as a portable unit. The BA-LIV-2 is for direct wiring.

6. For direct wiring, how many knock-outs does the Line Volt Light Bar have?

Bottom Plate (that mounts onto surface) : Two 3/8" knockouts for BX or ROMEX cables.
End Cap : Two½" oblong knock-outs on each end for making a continuous run.
Top plate : Three 3/8" knockouts for installation of multiple fixtures.

7. Can I make a continuous run of 3 Bar Lights? What kind of wire do I need? How far apart can I wire the fixtures?

Yes – the knock-out holes are provided so that wiring from one fixture to another is made possible. You may use regular BX or ROMEX wires commonly used by electricians. Since these are Line voltage, you may wire them as far apart as you wish without a voltage drop.

8. Can the BA-LIV's be branch wired and still go on and off independently? If so, how?

Yes. When branch wired in parallel each bar light functions independently and can be dimmed and turned on and off separately.

9. What are the package of wire nuts and chrome pieces for?

The chrome plated pieces are adapters for Romex and BX connectors. High heat wire nuts are provided to accomplish branch wiring if necessary.

10. Can the under-cabinet lights be dimmed?

Yes – they have a built-in Hi-Lo switch. When using an additional dimmer (a regular incandescent one will do) be sure to leave the Hi-Lo at High.

11. What if I wish to color-match the bar lights with my cabinets?

They come in two painted finishes – white and bronze. The white may be painted to color-match any surface.

12. Can I use clear lenses instead of the frosted lenses supplied with the light bars?

Yes – you may purchase the LENS-BAL-CL to replace the frosted lens. They were fitted with frosted lenses to reduce glare.

13. Can these fixtures be installed in a damp location?

Yes – they are suitable for damp locations (above the sink or bathroom), but not wet locations.

14. Can the light bars be installed above a stove or fire place?

No – the heat will shorten the life of the light bars.
